Krista Ranillo, Death Threat issues

Krista Ranillo and her family have claimed receiving death threats over issues linking her to Manny Pacquiao.

This was revealed recently by the Ranillo family's lawyer, Atty. Tonisito Umali, in an interview aired on "Showbiz News Ngayon," Nov25.

Umali did not give details but he said the threats are "continuing and is one of the major reasons [the Ranillos, who are in the US as of this writing] have not returned to the country yet."

Umali also read a statement from the Ranillos, which expressed how the family is being affected by the brouhaha which has hogged the headlines for weeks now.

"Our family is deeply saddened by the continuing negative publicity being hurled upon [us] as a result of the alleged inappropriate relationship of Ms. Krista Ranillo with Mr. Manny Pacquiao."

Entertainment media trooped to the airport on Nov. 25, hoping to interview Krista who, prior, was reported to be flying home. Krista was a no-show but her manager Arnold Vegafria was at the airport from a separate trip.

"Nagkausap lang kami the other day. I was in Europe so naririnig ko na lang na masyado na palang grabe 'yong sisue. So, we talked about it.

"Sabi niya kasi sa akin the last time...nakusap ko siya, they're just friends. Close sila dahil ginagawa nila 'yong movie. Hindi ko alam, nagkaroon yata ng malisya," Vegafria explained.

He corrected rumors that Krista received $2 million from Manny after he won against Miguel Cotto. This aside from a previous gift, allegedly a "luxurious bag."

"Hindi, hindi. Walang ibinigay na bag si Manny sa kanya...maski balato. They're just friends."

He assured that Krista will be home soon.

"Uuwi na siya dahil may taping pa siya ng 'Agimat' so kailangan niyang tapusin 'yon. May shooting pa siya ng 'Wapakman'. Babalik naman siya, nagpapalamig lang (siya)."

Meanwhile, in the same SNN episode, Manny and wife Jinky were deluged with questions as soon as they arrived in General Santos City.

"Excited na rin akong makita kayo," Manny told the media.

He denied having troubles in their marriage. "Kayo ang may problema, hindi kami," he quipped.

"Bakit totoo ba? Ano lang, 'yong mga tao lang ang nag-isip. Kasi dapat panoorin nyo na lang ang 'Wapakman'," he added.

Pacman said nothing has changed on the home front. "Walang pagbabago. Hindi ako naapektuhan."
